Launched in 2015 in the U.K the CHIKA’S range of Africa-inspired snacks immediately resonated with retailers such as Waitrose, Co-Op, Holland & Barrett, and Ocado, establishing CHIKA’S as a leader in the market. Under Chika's leadership, the business has secured national listings and several thousand retail stockists both in the UK and internationally.
After a decade in banking, I realized that while the financial sector was a great training ground, my true passion lay in creating something that connected with people on a more personal level. The turning point came when I started dreaming of a business that could bring something unique and meaningful to the table—literally and figuratively! The idea of launching CHIKA’S FOODS wasn’t just about making snacks; it was about sharing a piece of Africa with the world, and that vision sparked a fire in me that the structured world of banking couldn’t match. So, I decided to take the leap and blend my financial acumen with my entrepreneurial spirit. And let’s just say, it’s been one delicious ride ever since!
Raising capital taught me that confidence, clarity, and persistence are crucial. Being thoroughly prepared with a clear pitch and solid numbers shows you mean business. Building a strong network of mentors and supporters can open doors and provide invaluable support. Rejections are part of the journey, so stay resilient and adaptable, every “no” brings you closer to a “yes.” Remember, your vision is worth fighting for, and perseverance often leads to the sweetest victories!
Embracing my passion with relentless determination. When you truly believe in what you’re doing and commit wholeheartedly, you can turn challenges into opportunities and setbacks into stepping stones. Passion fuels persistence, and that drive makes all the difference
My mum, for her inner strength and calm nature. It's fascinating how, sometimes, the quietest voices hold the most power. I also admire Mother Teresa for her unwavering devotion and selflessness. Her spirit of giving is truly inspiring.
One thing I can’t live without is purpose. Whether in business or personal life, having a clear sense of purpose keeps me grounded, motivated, and focused on creating meaningful impact.
I’m excited about the rise of conscious consumption! People are becoming more thoughtful about what they eat and how it impacts the planet. It’s a movement that’s pushing brands to be more innovative and sustainable. 2024 is all about purpose, and I love it!
